                        Europe

It was surprising how many steam locos. were still in regular service in Europe in 1978, especially in Germany where WW2 2-10-0 types were still hauling freight and 2-6-2s were handling commuter runs. In France I found imported US built 141R  locos. still working local freights. While in Portugal Mallet tanks were in regular service.
